How crazy is our weather lately? In Austin, it’s sunny and gorgeous one week… then rainy and freezing the next week. Our immune systems are working over time to combat the looming cold and flu season. I’d say it’s more important that ever to increase your nutrient dense greens and Vitamin C rich foods to support your immune system!
Enter Smoothies!
Smoothies are super easy to make and really an effective way to consume your phytonutrients, fiber, vitamins, healthy fats and live enzymes! The reason I love smoothies for kids is that you can easily disguise the taste of a cup of fresh veggies, (like spinach or kale) with the help of sweetness coming from fruit. Here are a few of our favorite versions packed with Vitamin C, fiber, healthy fats, plant power and hydration!
Here’s my very first stab at a Citrus Smoothie last year on Insta. It’s still one of my favorite smoothies to make because of the spicy/zesty flavor. You can even add cilantro for a detoxing effect! The Citrus Smoothie I’m making lately (see recipe below) is more kid friendly! The kids love the addition of raspberries for a slightly sweeter flavor 🙂

Shamrock Mint Shakes
Since St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner I’m sharing my favorite green, mint smoothie! The kids and I look forward to making this every year! It is soooo good! Tastes very similar to vegan mint chocolate chip ice cream!
Remember to enjoy your greens before your Guinness! 🙂
